The National Audit Office of Malta has conducted a performance audit of the initiatives that Government has undertaken to implement producer responsibility for packaging waste recycling. This study gauged the extent to which producers have assumed the responsibility to recycle a set percentage of the packaging waste put on the market, as required by law, and to comply with the relative reporting obligations.
